A new survey from Business 21 Publishing (www.b21pubs.com) shows that companies are "way too tolerant" of poor performance. “In my 20 plus years as an HR executive and consultant, I would say most companies do not have performance management systems that allow them to deal with performance issues effectively,” adds Michaelee Stack, Director of HR Consulting Services for Orion Risk.

Poor productivity is only one devastating symptom.  A corporate culture tolerant of poor performance can cause employees to lose respect for senior management and each other.  Also, companies run the risk of demoralizing top performers who feel like they are giving 100%, while others are allowed to merely get by.
