
Reports To:
Account Manager, Senior Account Manager or Commercial Lines Manager
Purpose:
To maximize client retention and new sales by assisting commercial
lines staff in the completion of administrative functions.
Primary Responsibility:
- Respond to client requests in a timely and effective manner
- Respond to account manager requests in a timely and effective manner
- To individually handle new and renewal business under supervision of the Customer Service Agent.
- Call underwriters to confirm applications are logged in
- Call the client to obtain any additional information they need to underwrite the application
- Set up and maintain customer files according to agency procedures
- To attach various transactions to customer files according to agency guidelines
- To check policies and endorsements for accuracy.
- To follow-up on suspense items within two (2) days of the diary date.
- To perform various rating calculations.
- Issue certificates of insurance, insurance applications, identification cards, etc.
- To follow-up on binders and renew, as needed
- To add and maintain risk files on the computer according to agency automation procedures.
- To invoice new and renewal business no later than inception date and endorsements within the month of issuance by the company.
- To compose letters to insurance companies and clients with final draft being reviewed by Account Manager.
- To contact insurance companies and clients by telephone, when necessary.
- To meet with Account Manager regularly (at least once a month) to review accounts and work being processed.
- To make photocopies of various documents.
- To maintain insurance forms supplies for the department.
- To perform miscellaneous projects at management’s request.
- To follow agency systems, procedures and insurance company regulations.
- To attend 90% of all training seminars and meetings sponsored by the agency.
- To adhere to agency attendance policy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year prior experience as an assistant in an insurance agency.
- Completion of attendance in insurance classes, such as INS 21,22, 23
- Have Fire & Casualty insurance license.
